Yameen Ferdous Khan – Keeping the Mod Spirit Alive

Born and bred in London, I’ve always found inspiration in the timeless style and swagger of the Mod movement. For me, being a Mod isn’t just about fashion—it’s a way of life, a commitment to sharp aesthetics, and a nod to the golden age of British culture. My wardrobe is a mix of 1990s Britpop influences and classic Mod staples: slim-fit trousers, Ben Sherman shirts, and the occasional 70s-style cord flares. It’s a look that gives me confidence and reminds me of the greats like Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene who brought Mod back into the spotlight.

Beyond the style, I admire the Mod ethos of individuality and attention to detail. Whether it’s the music, scooters, or the community, being part of the Mod culture means celebrating what’s unique while respecting its history.

The New Untouchables represent everything I love about the Mod movement—timeless fashion, music that moves the soul, and a sense of belonging to something that truly stands out. Here’s to keeping the spirit alive, sharp as ever.

Top 5 Tunes at the Moment
1. “Tin Soldier” – Small Faces
A timeless anthem with gritty vocals and a punchy rhythm, it’s the perfect blend of soul and rock that defines the Mod sound.
2. “My World” – Secret Affair
Pure Mod revival brilliance. The energy, brass, and defiant lyrics make it an all-time favourite for me.
3. “Going Underground” – The Jam
Weller’s sharp lyricism and raw delivery are unmatched, and this track still hits hard every time I hear it.
4. “Green Onions” – Booker T. & the MG’s
The ultimate instrumental groove. Its cool, laid-back vibe works perfectly as the soundtrack to any Mod moment.
5. “Waterloo Sunset” – The Kinks
A dreamy classic with a reflective mood that resonates deeply. It’s a Mod staple for winding down in style.
Favourite Types of Clothing
Favourite Types of Mod Clothing for Men
1. Tailored Suits
A well-cut suit is the cornerstone of Mod fashion. Think slim-fitting, single-breasted jackets with narrow lapels and sharp trousers. Fabrics like tonic or mohair add that extra Mod flair, especially in colours like blue, grey, or burgundy.
2. Ben Sherman Shirts
The iconic button-down shirts are a staple. Patterns like gingham, stripes, or checks, paired with a sharp collar, make these shirts both versatile and unmistakably Mod.
3. Polo Shirts
Brands like Fred Perry are synonymous with the Mod subculture. Whether classic white with black tipping or bolder colours, a polo shirt is a timeless casual option.
4. Slim-Fit Trousers
Trousers should be tailored and slightly cropped to show off the shoes. Styles in classic colours or patterns like houndstooth or Prince of Wales check always hit the mark.
5. Parkas
The fishtail parka is the ultimate outerwear for Mods, originally worn to protect those sharp suits while riding scooters. Olive green is the go-to, but a few subtle patches or badges can add a personal touch.
6. Chelsea Boots and Loafers
For footwear, it’s all about sleek lines. Polished Chelsea boots or leather loafers from brands like Loake or Bass Weejuns are essential for that sharp Mod look.
7. Knitwear
Slim-fitting crew neck or V-neck sweaters layered over shirts or polos are a smart way to add texture. Go for clean, classic styles in block colours or with subtle patterns.
8. Accessories
A skinny tie, pocket square, or tie clip can elevate a look, while Aviator or Ray-Ban sunglasses add a touch of rebellion.

These pieces form the backbone of a Mod wardrobe—sharp, stylish, and effortlessly cool.
