About Me:

Born in the year of Revolver. Discovered the Mod scene circa 1980. Bought my first scooter in 1983, still drive a 1968 LI 150 Special. I play bass guitar, electric upright bass, guitars, saxophones and flutes. I’m part of a brass section with my wife (who plays trumpet) in a local ska band in Ireland. We’ve played with Madness, UB40 and many more. We have eight, yes eight, children. I can’t wear a suit with less than 3 buttons on the jacket unless it’s a tux. I have as many pairs of shoes as my wife and as many musical instruments as she has handbags. I’m a Beatles addict but my favourite 60’s bands outside of the Beatles are the kinks and small faces. I do have a diverse interest in music thanks to my studies so I describe myself as a Baroque n Roller. I also have a very unpolitically correct sense of humour. I’ve never been arrested. I’m retired due to non fatal ill health and I’m a full time carer of my son who has Down syndrome. I enjoy life and I’m buzzing to get my lambretta back from the restoration guy and visit Brighton for the first time ever!!

Polo shirts, jeans, happy socks and custom converse hi tops when casual. 3 button suits, button down shirts, thin ties or cravats, happy socks, Chelsea boots when more formal is required. Fishtail and docs on cold scooter days.

Lambretta clothing, London. Rebirth of Cool, Dublin. Just Flutes, Croydon, Bass Centre, London, Thomann music, Germany, Converse.com, Netherlands, Happy Socks, Sweden I think but all online.

None. Anyone who plays soul,ska or new wave is good with me.

Fave things about ‘The Scene’

The scene is mostly in my head because I live in a rural area and work weekends. The scene to me is how I present myself, how I treat others and how I influence my children to open their minds to music and fashion.
