Back in 79 began (for me) the excitement of a style that just seemed to cut the cloth above other styles. Mental Skinheads always looking for trouble, uncool Casuals also looking for a fight, although Punks, never seemed to be a problem, well not where I lived. And for some reason they all seemed to hate the Mods…I wonder why?
Like many Mods starting out, it was about the Music and the clothes and wanting to be different. I can still remember how my Parka used to clean my shoes, covering my customised school blazer with badges down the lapels. Always trying to look smart, Smoking Park Drive and talking Music, Girls and one day I’m gonna get a scooter. I was quite lucky where I lived because in my street, pretty much everyone was into Mod, so our youth club became a Mod club, well till 9:30pm.
Years have passed since 79, but the buzz is still inside, because the music is there, the style is there, the Scene is still very much alive, well in fact it’s never died.
